01
The short answer
Social Janitor snapshot history is local browser data. If the local storage is removed or you open the app in a different browser environment, the history may no longer appear.
Social Janitor does not keep a server-side backup of imported snapshots that support can simply restore.
02
Are you using the same browser profile?
Check whether you are using the same browser, browser profile and device where the snapshots were originally created.
A different browser profile has separate IndexedDB and local storage, even on the same computer.
03
Was site data or local data cleared?
Using Clear local data removes locally stored snapshots and cleanup decisions.
Clearing cookies and site data through browser settings can also permanently remove snapshots that existed only in that browser.
04
Were you using private browsing?
Private or incognito browsing can use temporary storage that is removed when the private session ends.
If important snapshot history exists only in private browsing storage, it may not survive after that session is closed.
05
Did you change device or browser?
Local snapshots are not automatically synchronized to another device or browser.
If you intentionally moved to another device, read how to use Social Janitor on another device.
06
Can you restore a portable backup?
If you previously created a portable Social Janitor backup, you may be able to restore and merge supported local data in another supported browser while signed in to the same account.
If no backup exists, check whether you still have the original Instagram export files so you can recreate the relevant snapshot.
07
What if the history is still missing?
If you are using the original browser and did not intentionally clear local data, contact support and describe what changed before the history disappeared.
Use the contact form and mention your browser, device and whether you still have a portable backup or original Instagram export.
