Your Instagram export has a clear boundary.

Social Janitor needs your follower files to show your relationships. It does not need those files on its servers. Here is what happens to your data when you use the service—and what you can control.

We keep the data used to analyze your Instagram relationships separate from the information needed to run a paid web service.

01 / ON YOUR DEVICE

Instagram data and your work

Selected JSON files are read in your browser. Imported snapshots and comparisons are stored in your browser’s IndexedDB. Keep/Reviewed decisions and some preferences are saved in local browser storage.

02 / SERVICE SYSTEMS

Your account and subscription

Account login, subscription status, billing records and customer-support messages are processed separately to operate the service. Stripe handles payment details; Social Janitor does not store your complete card number.

Separate from your imported follower files

03 / INSTAGRAM

Your account actions

You request the export from Instagram. Social Janitor does not ask for your Instagram password, sign in to Instagram for you, or automatically follow or unfollow anyone. Profile links lead you back to Instagram to decide what to do.

A useful result without surrendering your login.

Import the Instagram export you requested, then look at Following only, Followers only and Mutual lists. A later export lets you compare snapshots from the same profile.

    Your browser reads the selected Instagram JSON export. No Instagram password or access token is requested by Social Janitor.

    Search relationship lists, mark accounts for review and save snapshots in the same browser profile.

    Refresh on your schedule

    Results reflect the imported export, not a live connection. To see what changed, import a newer export from the same Instagram profile.

    With Pro, export a portable backup and restore it in another browser while signed in to the same Social Janitor account. The file stays under your control.

PORTABILITY AND DELETION

Move it when you need it. Clear it when you’re done.

Pro’s portable backup is a readable JSON file created locally in your browser. Keep it private. Social Janitor does not receive or store a copy, and you can restore it only while signed in to the same Social Janitor account.

In the dashboard, open Manage local data and choose Delete all local data if you no longer want its saved snapshots, review decisions and notes in that browser profile. Signing out of Pro alone does not clear them.

This does not delete the original downloaded Instagram ZIP, other browser or device copies, or your separately stored account and billing records. Anyone who uses the same browser profile may be able to access local data before you clear it.

What is processed beyond your export?

Account and billing

We need account and subscription information to provide Pro access. Supabase supports authentication and records; Stripe processes payments and billing.

Messages and support

If you contact us or join a waiting list, we process the details you submit. HubSpot supports tickets and contact records; Resend supports requested and transactional emails. Please do not attach an Instagram export to a support request unless we ask for it.

Website analytics

Google Analytics is optional and is enabled only after you accept analytics cookies. Declining does not prevent you from using the core service. Site operation may still generate necessary cookies and technical logs.
