How Do I Delete My Social Janitor Data?

Social Janitor stores different kinds of data in different places. Instagram snapshots and cleanup choices are stored locally in your browser, while account, billing and support data are handled separately. The deletion step depends on which data you want to remove.

01

The short answer

Use Clear local data in the dashboard to remove browser-stored Instagram snapshots and cleanup decisions. If you also want server-side account data deleted, submit a privacy request separately.

Local data and account data are different

Clearing browser data does not delete your online account, subscription records or support history.

02

How to delete local Instagram data

Imported Instagram snapshots, comparisons and some cleanup choices are stored on your device rather than on Social Janitor's servers.

Use the dashboard's Clear local data control to remove locally stored snapshots and Keep/Reviewed decisions.

If you use a shared device, clear local data before signing out if you do not want those records to remain available in that browser.

03

How to remove cookies and other site data

If you also want to remove cookies and other site storage, use your browser's settings for Social Janitor.

Clearing browser site data may sign you out and can permanently remove snapshots that exist only in that browser.

Keep anything you still need before clearing

Social Janitor cannot restore information that existed only in your browser after it has been deleted.

04

Delete portable backup files separately

Pro users can create portable Social Janitor backup files in JSON format. Those backups are downloaded to a location you choose and are not uploaded to Social Janitor as part of the backup process.

If you want those copies deleted, remove the backup files yourself from the devices or storage locations where you saved them.

Clearing local browser data does not automatically delete backup files stored elsewhere on your device.

05

How to request deletion of account data

If you want Social Janitor to delete personal data held on its systems, submit a privacy request through the contact form.

Social Janitor may need to verify your identity before processing the request.

Send a privacy request

Use the contact form and state clearly that you are requesting deletion of your account data.

06

What about subscription and billing records?

Some account, subscription and billing records may need to be retained for closure, security, accounting, legal obligations or disputes.

Subscription records needed to administer an active subscription cannot be deleted while that subscription is still running.

If you want to end paid access first, read how to cancel your Social Janitor subscription.

07

Need help deleting data?

If you are unsure whether the data you want to remove is local or server-side, contact Social Janitor and describe what you want deleted.

Do not send your Instagram password or an Instagram export unless support explicitly asks for it for your case.

See the Privacy Policy for retention, deletion rights and the difference between local and server-side data.
