01
The short answer
You do not need to log in to Instagram through a third-party tool just to see who does not follow you back.
If you have your own Instagram export, the answer can be calculated from two sets of records: Followers and Following.
Following − Followers = accounts you follow that do not follow you back.
02
What you actually need for the comparison
A non-follower comparison does not require access to your full Instagram account. It only requires the follower and following records you want to compare.
- Followers: accounts that follow you.
- Following: accounts you follow.
Once both lists are available, the one-way relationships can be calculated without an Instagram session.
03
Use your own Instagram data export
Instagram lets you request a copy of your account data. That export can include the follower and following records needed for the comparison.
For Social Janitor, the useful format is JSON.
If you do not have the files yet, follow how to download your Instagram followers and following list.
04
Compare Followers and Following
Once you have both sets, compare the account records rather than the headline totals.
- Following only: you follow them, but they do not follow you.
- Followers only: they follow you, but you do not follow them.
- Mutual: you follow each other.
For the full logic, see how to compare Instagram Followers and Following.
05
Why a third-party Instagram login is not required
The relationship calculation happens from the exported records. A tool does not need to sign in to Instagram as you just to compare those files.
That is different from tools that connect directly to an Instagram account or perform actions on the account.
If the data needed for the comparison is already in your export, the comparison itself can happen without handing over your Instagram login.

What to do next
If your main goal is current one-way relationships, one fresh export is enough. If you want historical unfollowers, save a snapshot and compare it with a later export.

Check the lists with Social Janitor
Social Janitor is built around your own Instagram export. You select the follower files in your browser, and the relationship comparison happens from those records.
The result is separated into Mutual, Following only and Followers only lists. Pro adds complete results, search, profile links, review markers, snapshot comparisons and CSV export.
